Religious Education is an important part of a broad and balanced curriculum to which every child is entitled, as outlined in the 1988 Education Act. It is taught in accordance with the Doncaster Locally Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, and reflects the fact that the religious traditions in Great Britain are in the main Christian, while taking into account of the teachings and practices of the other principle religions represented throughout the country.

Religious Education is concerned with learning about religions, and learning from religions and human experiences, using an open approach. It is designed to develop knowledge and understanding, not to convert pupils or urge a particular religious belief on pupils. Religious Education will prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in an ethnic and culturally diverse society.
