Holidays and Attendance

When children have medical or dental appointments during school hours, please bring the appointment card into school and show it to the class teacher. If your child is being collected from school (or is leaving unaccompanied in the case of older children) please inform the class teacher or office staff immediately prior to the child leaving the premises.

If your child is absent from school for any reason please let us know as soon as possible either by telephone or letter before 9.00 am on the first day of absence. The school should also be notified of any medical reasons why children should be excused from P.E. activities.

There have been many changes in the law relating to attendance at school and if we do not receive a valid reason for absence then we are obliged to class the child as being absent without authorisation, and this must be recorded and reported to parents. Attendance levels below 95% must by law be reported to the Education Welfare Officer. Please note that any holidays taken in term time count as absence. Our aim is to have no children absent without authorisation, and we rely on your help and co-operation to achieve this.
